Blood Money is a side-scrolling shoot 'em up developed by DMA Design (later Rockstar North) and published by Psygnosis. A follow-up to Menace, it spans four worlds — metal, water, ice, and fire — each played in a different vehicle: helicopter, submarine, spacesuit, and fighter jet. Enemies drop money that can be spent in mid-level shops on extra lives and power-ups. Notably, the walking animations created for the game directly inspired the look of the lemmings characters in DMA's next major project. Released on 19 April 1989 to strongly positive reviews — ST/Amiga Format called it the best shoot 'em up on the Amiga — it sold 40,000 copies, doubling Menace's sales.
